I have been driving my 1987 911 daily since I got it. This weekend I spent several hours washing and waxing (3 coats- cleaner wax, followed by Klasse, followed by P21 Concourse) her. So yesterday I decided to give her a day off and drive my 2007 Honda Fit. I am going to sell the Fit, but I want to make sure I drive it occasionally. I got in and turned the key and....nothing. Light on dash, battery light, no turnover of the engine. I am freaking out. This is just what I need. What the $@*&? etc.

Then I remember that to start the Fit you have to depress the clutch even when you are in neutral, unlike the 911....

D-ohh!

I'm surprised you were able to find the ignition. I had this problem in my Explorer this morning after a two week hiatus. And somebody seems to have removed its clutch.

Funny that, I've noticed that someone has also taken the clutch out of my (boring but practical) Nissan Quest, the key doesn't go to the left of the steering wheel, nor is the door handle right there where my arm sits, below the door pull ....

Geeze,..I can't even drive my Wife's Camry,...sometimes, even my beater 1997 Nissan XE Pickup...that power steering stuff (w/ power brakes), throws me off.......takes a bit to adjust....weird feeling, however....

Try going from a 911 to a F350 crew cab. You think it's a big truck, but it seems like a semi after driving my 911 home from Florida!

heh. try going from a 911 to a real semi at a gross vehicle weight approaching 80,000 lbs. then drive said semi west out of denver through the rocky mountains.

hint: the 911 is faster and corners better.

i could never get anybody to pay me by the mile to drive the 911 however. the world is unjust

I think it is also interesting that the wipers are the reverse of any car I have ever seen, starting in the down position and travelling up and to the right. That one freaks out passengers when they notice.

Nothing like driving with the family and fogetting that the wifes car with DSG does not have a clutch.

Well, I found out the brakes work real good

I too am guilty of always keeping the key in the left hand.

I also find I try and stick my key into the headlight switch of the suburban...and the ***** work in reverse.....on the bright side heated seats are pretty nice!!!

as for driving...if you figure out how to be really smooth and late apex corners your truck will fly through the turns..its really rewarding to do it right because the errors are amplified as are the rewards! Great training for your Porsche

wanna experience weight transfer...no better way to do it!...you can feel it go over and settle on the suspension and really truly learn a lot form driving a pig !

Wow i have done that too .. i now realize how aggresively i do press the clutch . After a weeks vacation in the 911 i got in my company caravan and was rolling up to the first corner and went to hit the clutch ..... i ended up with a bruise on my chest from the seat belt and i thought my teeth were coming out. not to mention the dizzyness of my brain sloshing around in my skull ... never did THAT again

Ok, I feel better now knowing I am not the only one that mashed the brake (imaginary clutch) pedal.
