Wow, great replies! Let's see what I've learned so far;
1) RAC=Good, but have lotsa mula!
2) VMC=Run Forest Run!!!!....no FASTER!!!
3) Northwest Investment= No info...yet, but I have both Kurt from Marque Motors and Steve from Rennsport working up there on my behalf.
K80Max: I feel your sickness. I have "leftlane" going to RAC today to put some eyeballs on a couple I'm looking at.
Ed: You keep em' straight! I checked out Truspeed and they have some beautiful cars, but a little pricey.
whalebird: Checked out Sloan and what nice cars.....but $$$OUCH$$$. Oh well, it doesn't cost anything to dream! Holt looks nice also but I hate it when a seller won't put the price in the ad!
Caferacer: Just trying to uncover every stone....and boy are there a lot of stones!!! Thanks for the advice!
amber lamps: Victory=GONE!!!
SC2993: Will do so tonight. Thanks

i agree with caferacer...you can avoid the stealership premium and also have more fun buying from a private party. there are a few reputable dealers out there but why pay that premium? a good ppi and a lot of questions/answers and photos from a fellow pcar enthusiast will typically yield a terrific car. you get to meet some nice people too. but if you spot your car, i can understand the desire to buy from a dealer for the convenience. good luck with your search.

STAY AWAY from Northwest Investment Cars. The owner Joe Fay is very rude and deceitful. Not only did he tell me that the car had never been in an accident(it had), he tried to talk me out of a PPI and then wanted to charge me $150 to let the car go to the PPI for the day. Long story short, the car had lotsa problems, all of which Joe disputed, would not fix any of them and would not come down on his price even $1. In the meantime, I've found a 88 911 Cab with half the miles and NO apparent issues and Joe STILL has his car in his showroom. My gain, his loss!

Here is my VMC story.
Called VMC on 2/20/2013 asked about a red 95 993, was told it was there in stock.
Commercial flight and rental car acquired.
Arrived 2/21/2013 was informed that car had been sold weeks ago.
Looked at other cars in the lot. I drove 3 different cars.
Decided to buy a 1996 993 with 66k miles.
This car drove great, but had been repainted years before.
Had a small area of the fender that had been reworked.
The magnet I carried showed no bondo. Had new tires and service completed.
Autocheck showed clear title, 3 owners.
Maintenance history and books were provided.
I was able to negotiate the very high price but still a little too much.
I was in no means pressured into the purchased of this vehicle.
I have done some work on this car and its very easy to work on.
Its been a great car and runs great!
Clear title in hand.
September 13 2014 decided to trade on a newer Carrera S.
That dealer used Carfax not Autocheck to check my car.
My Carfax report showed "Salvaged".
I also found out the maintenance books for my car were not for my car!
My fault for not noticing?
Contacted Robert Neal. Very elusive with his answers.
I contacted the National Insurance Crime Bureau (www.nicb.org).
I was informed Carfax was correct and Autocheck in error.
My only complaint is the vehicle was advertised as a clean Carfax, but I was provided with an Autocheck report. Also the maintenance book issue.
Many emails later I have started the process of filing complaints.
I don't expect much.
I have a friend who purchased a 993 five years ago from VMC and its been a great car.
Buyer Beware!

i would agree with being very careful with RAC. i have had enough to experience with them to know that i will likely never do business with them again. a lot of people say they feel very confident with them, but if you KNOW cars, you quickly understand they're not much more than a dealer/flipper with a service dept to fix what was wrong with the car that you may have bought from them. as far as service alone, there are other options in the DFW area.
