Default RAC Performance/Northwest Investment Cars/Victory Motorcars

Has anyone had any experience with either RAC Performance in Dallas, Victory Motorcars in Houston or Northwest Investment Cars in Portland, OR? I am looking at cars from these three dealerships and would appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance.

I know RAC very well, both sales and service. Talk to Carl Jannen or Jonathan Peck in sales, and go straight to Hans in service. They put all their cars through the shop and basically do a PPI, so if you're looking at a car ask them for the report from service. I may be there tomorrow to check out a car - tell me what are you looking at and I'll give it the once over if I can.

You may be the only one here to say anything positive about Victory. Waaaaaayyyyy too many negative comments about them for someone to be dumb enough to buy a car from them. IMO, they survive only because enough new entrants to the Porsche world buy from them.

Crazy- you might check out TruSpeed in Costa Mesa. They have a choice selection, and by most accounts, are trustworthy and take care of their customers.

BTW - I've heard nothing but bad things about Victory from my educated Porsche friends in Houston.

Tim! I thought you were enjoying the search. The reason I mention this is that I was initially looking at dealerships in order to buy a turnkey 911, as essentially an easy, albeit expensive way to enter the P-car world. This is not a bad idea if you are in a hurry and don't mind paying for all of that dealer overhead. Ultimately, I realized that if I learned from this forum and had a good PPI done, I would get the most value from a private sale. There are, no doubt, many good cars at the reputable dealerships but you will pay a premium that may be unecessary. By all means, go to the websites of some of them for the eye candy. Then check their prices vs. similar models you have seen in the PCA, Rennlist and Pelican classifieds. Holt Motorsports and Sloan Cars are a couple of my favorites and if I ever hit the lottery I may even buy a car from them. This is just a data point from someone who was in your shoes only a few months ago. I am still learning and there may be some good values at the outfits you mentioned. You are smart to check-in here on them.

Calm down Ed, after a thorough PPI on the car that I purchased over 6 years ago Victory had a nice example that I ended up purchasing. Caveat Emptor when buying a used car from any person or dealer, right? The car experienced a fault in the after-market security system and would not start after arriving at my brother's home in Houston. Needless to say I was upset and told Robert Neal so. Robert sent a flat bed wrecker the next day to get my car down to an alarm specialist where they swapped out the old system with a new and better system at no charge to me. I would say that is good service after the sale don't you think? The car has performed great since then and was as advertised from purchase. Others have not been so lucky perhaps but in my case everything worked out well.

I've serviced several Victory cars and they were all VERY well polished turds. Their service may be good and I have no problem with anyone serving the P-car only market. Just be aware they are very clever at making a car "show" well.
Sloan or Holt have a better track record and they are in the North East. I think it is a great idea to look everywhere in the country. The west coast has a lot of savvy shops and owners, but may represent higher regional costs. Average costs of these cars can vary from one area to another...look everywhere.
Here in the southeast, the average cost seems a bit lower than other areas. Regardless of location, budget a little more for the right car for you. It will be well worth it in the long run.

Calm down? Seriously? I could give a rat's *** about them. Crazy asked a question about them, as he seems to be new to looking at 911's, I gave him an answer, as I see it. YOU are in a very small minority in having anything good to say about this company. Too many stories about clearcoat sprayed over bad paint, etc, to ever trust them. I'm sure someone got a rebuilt engine from Motormeister that ran fine with no issues, once or twice too.

I think a local purchase is a bit safer than the typical Ebay/autotrader purchase. Online selling of Porsches has opened up the market considerably to uneducated buyers and unscrupulous sellers. Never buy a 911 sight unseen or at least without an agent working on your behalf.

Be very careful dealing with RAC in Dallas. The myriad of really neat cars, nice folks, and Hans in Service will have you giddily writing large checks. They have vaccinated me twice and I could not be happier.
