2-Prong or 3-Prong Brake light switch
Turns out my 3.2 car takes a 2 prong brake light switch. Just out of curiosity, which 911s take the 3-prong switch that two reputable Porsche parts dealers told me to buy? Why would both places make the same mistake? Thank you.

Porsche says in the Parts and Technical Reference Catalog that the three pole was used 77-86, and the two pole 84-89, with the footnote to verify number of poles 84-86.

There's a gap in the plug where the third prong will fit - bought several master cyl's. and the three prong switches came with them. When one of my switches wore out, I looked all over for two prongs only to find from my mechanic that the three prong works just fine -
good luck!

We were just discussing this over on the Pelican Parts BBS. Actually, I was griping about having to remove the sensors to find out which one I have. Now I know I can check the parts reference or just remove the connector. But it's beginning to look like the three-prong was used in the 930 master cylinder - which means I should have two-prong sensors.
