It's tight-you have to get your hands back there...

That Fabspeed part is pretty flimsy, isn't it? If you're running an oiled filter, you'll need to be diligent about cleaning, and do not over-oil. You may've been best served to buy a stock cover and cut it, if you want sound. The stock filter breath pretty darned well.

Seems a little flimsy, but it's all about air, so doens't bother me. I can slip my hand, but it's my forearms that get stuck! Down side of being a gym rat! lol

I bought the K & N filter to compliment the airbox. Tomorrow I am set to get all installed by my mechanic, that I sort of explain in my sig. So, I will simply let him do the air box.

I never look down there!

Seriously, Carrera airboxes aren't restrictive, so you'll probably just get to pick up the sound aspect. I did pull mine and go to a cone, but that was really cosmetically driven. Fabspeed has varying reputation for quality in 911 circles.

That's what I was trying to subtly say.

Yea, meanwhile my garage has a pile of parts I am on the fence about. It was suggested I do a baselin.e dyno run before hand, so maybe I will do that first

Don't feel bad I bought the k&n cold air system for the 996 and its a heap of tin crap, researched AFTER and returned it before installing it, no harm in mistakes I hope cuz I make plenty

With the stuff you have, it would be great for before and after data. I think Fabspeed's claims on HP for some of their stuff has long been suspect.

Nothing wrong on the cat bypass, and a free-flowing muffler, coupled with a proper chip. Not cheap HP per se, but probably the cheapest HP bump on a 3.2. Then, you can spend $10k+ for the next 20-25 HP gain..... I know all too well, but wouldn't change a thing.

Default Fabspeed air box

Sarge,

Here's how i installed mine three years ago ... clips on top and bottom,i found it was the easiset way to remove and install !
As for the extra HP,who knows, there are a lot of claims ... lol

I've had a K&N filter on my F150 for the last 12 years and i drive on dirt roads with no engine damage, just keep it clean and properly oiled ...

Cheers !
Phil

I'd take my chances on an F150 before a 911 with a reusable filter. But, as I stated, I do have a K&N for cosmetic reasons. And, as I also stated at the front, one needs to be diligent about cleaning and oiling, and as you state PROPERLY oiled. Too much oil can have some ill effects downstream of the filter. They are fine, but they take discipline.

The stock paper filter works better, fits better, and flows well enough to leave it on.

Im sure it does, but I simply wanted it for the sound a whatever little more it provides. It's a nice complement to my other fabspeed mods.

As far as a chip that somebody asked, it's the one that comes w/ the Fabspeed ECU upgrade and tuned for my mods. I think it's called 911 chips or something like that. All is in the shop right now being installed. I will post pics and sounds of all later. How do I upload a video on here? Can it be as simple as a pic or I have to upload it to a site and then give a URL link?
