new shocks question
I'm about to install new shocks all around. Going with Bilsteins.
Should i go with HD or Sport? Not upgrading torsion bar or other components.
I'll do a few track days a year but really just want to enjoy the car on street.

FWIW - and I am not sure how the price differance is....but the Koni external adjusted are the best of both worlds...
very compliant for street and stiff as a Honda on the bump stops for the track - I think tirerack has them on sale from time to time - front cost me $336 shipped, rears I got from my indy's parts shelf at a significant discount

The general consensus is HD's for the front and Sports for the rear, especially for the G50 cars of 87-89 vintage.
Not sure about the Koni adjustable shocks but i think you have to remove them to adjust ...
Another good thing about the Bilsteins is that you can get them revalved to your liking for a very reasonable cost !
Cheers !

RE remove shocks to adjust...ummm... the "externally adjusted" means you adjust while standing there drinking your coffee with the hood open in like 45 seconds
I saw twice "I want bilstien's" but no real reason - I think having options is pretty cool and the Boge struts accept the Koni's just fine.. you want a partial DE and street ride, I would look before jumping on the "fixed" set - but then again I would get bigger T-bars...wait I already did

Thanks ivangene -
I didn't want to open a can of worms on different options. I definitely realize there are many ways to go. I was merely asking for advice on Bilstein HD vs. Sport. I'm not upgrading T-bars or anything else for that matter. I just need and only want new shocks. So I have my answer.
Thanks for the comment about my avatar - the color is definitely growing on me! In fact, I'll probably do a respray in then next 12-18 months will keep it exactly the same.

Always match your dampers to your springs for best performance. For your stock springs, nothing stiffer than HD is appropriate, regardless of street or track. Steve Weiner's advice is spot on.

For the cost of that respray you could install all kinds of suspension goodies and replace all those old tired suspension bushings ...
Your car will not handle any better with new paint !
You can't feel a new paint job but you sure will notice a new suspension
Cheers !

The respray is just on the wish list for now. Suspension and Exhaust/Chip are higher on the list..
