aloha?? any one from hawaii??
i recently moved to the hawaiian islands and brought my 83 911targa with me. it had performed flawlessly until last week when i lost first gear..ouch...and the next day the alternator went bad. i guess when it rains it pours huh? i took it to Auto Werkes here in waikiki on the island of oahu. they were very quick getting the car in, knew exactly what was wrong and took me on a 2 hour tour of my car...yup 2 hours of porsche knowledge from the owner of the shop...<oh and that was free>
are there any other porsche owners here in hawaii??
would love to chat about the greatest cars ever made!!
and thanks to Auto Werkes in waikiki..you guys are great!

Kyle -
There's a great group of Porshe owners that meet once a month at the Elks Club in Honolulu -- see "http://vista.pca.org//hi/" for the scoop on the local PCA chapter (Darryl Lee is the president and is doing a great job). I don't get to the meetings much, but I enjoy getting together for swap meets, concourses, picnics, etc. Welcome to Hawaii!

If so, which island(s)?
One track, to my knowledge: Hawaii Raceway Park, which is a pretty nice 1.5-2 mile road course in Ewa (SW coast Oahu). In addition, the SCCA puts on monthly autox's at the old Ewa airstrip...although I moved away several years ago, so things may have changed. I hope the autox is still alive...nicest bunch of people I have ever raced with.

I lived in Hawaii for over 10 years. I miss it after my move to So Cal.
There was (is?) a race track on Oahu, near Aiea or Pearl City, I forget. I haven't been there for about 6-7 years so I don't know if it still operates.
I always thought it was funny over there. The common comment about going fast is "where you gonna go, it's an island."

Kyle-
My 78 is "polar" silver. Unfortunately, it's in the shop right now. Chris Stormer over at Air Cooled Engines is working on an idle/stalling problem I've had for awhile. Looking forward to getting it back in top shape!
See you on the road.

doug,
i have a red 911 sc targa with a whale tale. i thought it was the only red targa with a whale tale until i parked next to a red Carrera last week at Pearl Ridge Mall!!!
my wife drives a white 924s. im sure there arent too many 924s' here on the islands, so if you see us just wave!! we'll wave back with dumb looks on our faces!!!!
my friend at work has an 89 911 and he has it serviced at air cooled. i have heard good things about them!
i too am working to put my 911 in top shape. mechanicially im there i just need cosmetics <doesnt any car thats almost 20 years old?> id love to chat with you some time and maybe we can get together and work on our cars. im in the navy and have access to the hobby shop which is a garage stocked with tools and lifts and such...

Three Wheelin'
You know this is a 9.5 year old thread. The funny thing is I think this is the guy that was with the SEAL team here before he was deployed. Just before he left here, his car was at the paint shop getting a Yellowbird kit installed. Lots of us got together to put the car back and ready for shipment. Helping out with that car is what got me into Porsches.
