Bravo! Amazing results!

Here's the thread: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...smog-test.html

The California dust ***** are at it again.

I need to find my results from last year. Mileage is roughly x3 yours, Gerry. I need to remember to run AC without the front relay prior to testing. Mine sat in line for AN HOUR before the guy tested it, so it was nice and cold to boot. The guy is a good family man, independent shop, who takes care to not damage anything, which is why I've been going there for 12 years.

I'll post mine if I can find it.

The FRONT OIL COOLER RELAY
is the one you should pull.

And, thanks for posting the thread, I forgot...............

Worth mentioning the HC and the CO did increase a bit.

Best,

Gerry

For grins, here are Gerry's numbers and mine from March-11 at the bottom.

My car was almost stone cold so that may explain the higher NO reading.

I've never had any issue with passing.

If I moved to california would I have to put my Cat back on? Thinking of eventually moving out to the west coast to take advantage of the fantastic weather. Doing a trail run sunday to dana point area.

A cat would be required at testing time. to ensure passing..

As one might expect, the max. values (California - L.A.) change, i.e. they are lower,
with later year cars:

My '88 3.2 has NOX limits of 565 for 15 MPH & 522 for 25 MPH.
The CO limits are .54 & .45 for 15 & 25 MPH.

Also, as noted in other posts, the max. limits were reduced at the latest biannual test:

2009 NOX limit 807/746 CO .76/.65, 2007 NOX 807/746, CO .76/.65

Is our state with our new governor signaling a message about the future
of our older Porsche cars being on the California roads in the future?

Here's my 2010 smog test. As I mentioned, the car sat for about 50 minutes and was cold by the time the guy started the test. I did get a new gas cap for the test from Napa Auto. They test the cap now too.

Default 2011 Smog test.

As per the tech who tested our car, the new California mandatory model/year testing for all cars is now 1976.

That is not new-that has been the case for a long time now. The references to years, are that they are raising the bar. For instance, standards for an '84 today are not the same as they were 10 years ago. The newer the overall car average is, the higher the minimum standard.
