Yellow Zinc Plating
Having been to California Porsche Restoration I had to look at my engine to see if it looked anywhere near what they looked like there and of course it didn't.
The difference is that the plating on several of my components is GONE. Nothing is rusty, but nothing looks as nice as my new ICV.
So I asked one of my fortune 500 customers who they use and I got a company name and contact person.
I'll be there in the morning to check out the operation and the quality of the work. The company's website makes them like look like the right company for the job.
Who did you use?
What would you have done?
I'm thinking fuel rails, fan strap, throttle linkage, hose clamps, cruise control bracket, and the like. There is some throttle linkage under the car as well that could use some help.
What else?

then I found this place and knew I was at least barking up the right tree. Then I asked a friend that owns an anodizing shop where to go and got some good leads. When my customer gave me a name and reminded me to spend the couple extra bucks for the coating and be sure to bake it in the oven afterwards I was totally confused.

....and wanting to isn't getting to. Should be, but it isn't always the case. We'll see how much for a basket of parts then I'll tell you more.

When I rebuilt mine the first time, anything not tied down went to a plater in Dallas for Cad (no Cailf environmental ****) plating. The more, the merrier, it won't affect cost.

Haha Doug!!
I was still doing the "lost in translation" style of speaking in this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/politics...t-know-it.html
And responding to your: "....and wanting to isn't getting to. Should be, but it isn't always the case. We'll see how much for a basket of parts then I'll tell you more. "
I thought it came out ok.

Ed,
Who did you use here in Dallas? My 930 is in a million pieces and it's a great opportunity to replate somethings. Care to share?

Toby,
A lot of the 928 DFW guys use Texas Precision Plating in Garland. Owner is Doug Gordon and the phone is 972.494.1547. I'm told Yellow Zinc is the way to go if you want to look Porsche original. I think its a flat rate (maybe$70) for a big bag of what ever you have.
