Whew!!! It's OK! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I drained out 2 quarts, pulled it out to the driveway, prayed, and ran the engine. (after midnight so the neighbors would not see nor smell it!)
After 2 minutes, the smoke began to lessen.
After 8 minutes, still there but thinner.
Drove it gently around the block about 5 times at 2000 rpm. First few times thru my own smoke cloud from the previous passes, then less and less.
After 15 minutes, just a whisper of smoke. Ahhhhhhhhh....
Re-read the book again - if they had only written - "check when warm"! Argggggg!

dont feel bad.. i had the bright idea of taking the drain plug out for just a split second out of the tank when i did my first over fill. was the midle of winter. i figured i would unscrew the plug and just hold it pressed against the hole while i got my pan ..... not so much
didnt know the arm in my winter jacket could hold about 4 quarts.
