Default '76-'77 Euro 3.0

My uncle has one and has had it forever. I love the car and will hopefully be able to get it from him in another 20 years. Anyway, does anyone else have one and can you post pictures and comments about them?

Here's a link to a Pelican thread that has a bunch of Carrera 3.0s, mostly pics.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...era-3-0-a.html

And another that has some info plus a few more links a couple posts down.

Jay,
I have one, needs a complete resto, long story. They are nice cars, precursor to SC's. Lighter and more powerful than an SC. Motor is basically a 3.0 Turbo w/o turbo.

Kind of an intro post, I swapped my user here (was Der Rennwagen), been around Porsche's since 1967 and post over on early911sregistry as ts rennsport.

Wonderfully FAST Porsches. My father owned a '76 Carrera 3.o targa #202. He wrote the "Import Book" back in 1985 about how to bring these over and helped several friends bring thier's in before DOT put the clamps down. Put over 750,000+ miles on his below (yup, that many, I helped). We raced it in a 1987 Golden Gate time trial at Laguna Seca's old track layout and the only car that could stay with me was a new 1987 turbo cup 951 and Henry Watts in his newer cabriolet :-). It now resides in France, being restored.

This is a helpful site, register your's.

BFG was testing tires the day before the time trial. Darin Brassfield was the driver (I went to school with him) and Jeff Zwart was shooting photos. Dad pulled up next to the 962 and snapped off a few.

Very nice. Jay, keep that car in your family and start preserving it now if not already. If it goes down hill, it wil most cretainly be more expensive in the future to restore.
Thanks for the cool pictures TS, and a warm welcome to Rennlist.

Yes please - Jay photos of your uncles Carrera 3.o !

Thanks, posted here on Rennlist since June, 2004 as Der Rennwagen, and even earlier - possibly like around 1998? Rather than have John D swap my user name just easier to make a new one that matches my early911sregistry one. I can dig up some other retro photos.

My uncles car is in nice condition, but it needs paint work as it has never had any and it has been a track car since the mid-80's. Typical stone chips and stuff, but it is a solid car! I hope to get it someday, but if not my cousin (uncle's son) will.

This is the only picture I have of it at NHMS a few years ago.

I used to work there and I put it on his car one day (it is actually a magnet) as a joke and I don't think he has taken it off yet. I don't think I will get them back either.
