Well I took the car in for some mechanical issues, wiper motors, washers. They found some additional items that were either missed or failed on the way back to Houston, including a fuel leak, an AC hose that failed and torsion bar replacement. I am glad to have the car back. I still need to repaint the Targa bar next. Maybe next Saturday morning when it will hopefully be cool enough in Houston at 5am or so to paint it.
One item that needed replacing was the rear window defogger switch between the seats. I did not see it in the Bentley manual but it is a 914 part, 914-632-107-00. This solved a blown fuse to the radio, and interior lights.
Love the car, took it to the airport today.

Congratulations on your great purchase!
Tell me the name of the book (Pete Zimmermann's book). I want to buy this book.
Thank you.

Ehhh...Blondes or Brunettes...
The tail is part of Porsche history, and if the car came with a tail, keep the tail. Although it seems a bit cliche now, back in the day it was the coolest, most radical design feature on any car, and really put Porsche back on the map at a time when the company was close to failing.
Long live the tail!

Michael,
You must be a good photographer. The angles you are shooting make the car look pretty good with the tale, and I don't like tails. If you decide to remove it, (recommended) give some very serious thought to a third brake light. Given today's lack of attention to driving, you have to flash a red light in some people's facees. It might keep you out of the clutches of some 'whiplash lawyer'. ;>)

I gave my headlamps the sake treatment of rice and rubbing alcohol. Worked great. I upgraded the bulbs to GE Nighthawk Sport. Slightly higher color temperature and coverage, but not the fakey blue cast.

Well the restoration goes on. Overall, the Rennaire upgrade (compressor, barrier hoses, front condensor, evap and dryer) is working well. I installed the Griffith center vent (looks much better than the picture). I got 43 degree center dash vent temps yesterday leaving my office garage downtown, when it was 102 degrees out. The center vent helps as well. I still have the stock fan and will think about an upgrade.
But such a difference than my 997.
Took out the 993RS wheel, a beautiful Momo wheel which is a Porsche part (listed for sale in classified) and went with an old school Momo Tuner wheel.
I am getting new tires this morning. While the out of state PPI noted the tires were in good condition, the date codes show they are fourteen years old. I never would have thought of this, but hopefully this will save someone else from the same mishap.
