New to me 1987 Targa
I have been looking for 3.2 to add to my 997. After six months of looking, I found a fairly clean G50. Pete Zimmermann's book was quite helpful in the search. Drove it 1,100 miles from Peoria, Illinois to Houston with my son. The car ran great.

Michael,
Congrats on your "new to you" 3.2. Looks great! That will be quite a departure from the 997, but it seems you have some company on this list. Enjoy it!
Someday, I hope to look for a 997 to add to my 3.2... Just need to pick the right 6 numbers...

Nice looking car!
Ditto for what Adams said :-)
It was great to share the experience with your son.
My younger daughter has gone on a couple of P-car excursions with me, and she has already made up her mind on exactly what car she wants.

Beautiful. My 15 year old can't wait for me to get mine. Soccer runs will never be the same.
Not to hijack the thread but, is losing the tail relatively easy? Just replace the engine cover then match the paint? I ask because it could help me broaden my search.

Edit:
Here's a pic of my old Targa sans tail for comparison...

That is a nice car-congrats!
(PS-anyone contemplating losing a tail needs to drive one without, at speed. There is a noticable difference without-they are absolutely functional)

Ed:
Did the car sans tail have a chin spoiler? I've heard you have to have both for them to work.
All:
I've seen this discussed many times over the years. Seems to me, the chin & tail spoilers only make a difference over 80mph.
YMMV.
Paul.

The point is that a tail does reduce lift at speed, and 80-85 is about when I feel it work. Ruby started out tail-less and spoilerless, and she is a lot more stable and sure-footed with a tail and spoiler. A whole lot more enjoyable to drive and safer too. She won't be going back on my watch.
I guess I'm saying that if one plans on enjoying their 911 at speed-track, highway, wherever-the tails work, they aren't just there for looks. This is a fact. If one doesn't and prefers a look, then each to their own.
A 911's profile is much like an airfoil-more so than any other car, IMO.
