Default Hitting redline towards highway on ramp with my wife today.....

As I hit close to redline she grabbed the dashboard and yelled "damn I hate this car but it sure is fast."

Priceless.

You have to get her to take it to redline in second, then she will change her tune ;-)

I hit the rev limiter in third and she has not been in the car since

Don't let her in a turbo.

This is exactly how I cured my wife of wanting to ride on the back of my V-Max years ago....

Take it to a tad over 7,000 RPM (or wherever your chip will let you go) let off the gas just a split second before you hit the clutch so as to let her head drift forward then slam the gas to the floor a split second before you absolutely drop the clutch. Your wife will never get back in the car.

Install 5 points, headers and a Flowmaster dual out muffler. Won't have to worry about her wanting to ride in the car again.

Then, you'll have to buy a stock model to take her out to dinner, however.

Now my kids jump into my Targa without any hesitation and I have to pry them out after we get back to the house

My younger one loves going for a drive with the windows down and top off so she can feel the wind when it's 40 degrees outside, brrr...

LOL it may not be "fast" by todays standards but it is still plenty to get you in trouble.

She asked my if it hurt the engine running it that way and I told her it hurt it to "not" run it hard.

We went out to dinner in the 993 last night. I drove safe and sound except for one evolution thru the gears, well at least 1-3. The 3.6 comes on just north of 4k. It is quick there. That, coupled with my only mod to date-Motorsound cover-adds up to nirvana.

I told her the owner's manual says you have to do that once per drive. She just shakes her head when she knows I'm lying.

Wow, any of you guys had your wife out on the track? Mine only did one ride in the Radical because she's so tiny she can't see over the windscreen. So all she senses are the g-forces, and a view of the clouds changing direction.

Oh, and she's got 5-6 track days under her belt, back when we had the '92 C4. She ultimately just decided it wasn't worth it to pay an extra entry for her, and enjoyed driving during our private open passing test days. Which definitely was throwing her out in the deep end.

One pleasurable memory I do have is the autocross school I had her do shortly after we met. It was in the '74 that I'd just done the widebody conversion on, and it still had the funky, peaky 3.5L. I wasn't instructing, but I was watching her on throttle slightly powersliding the car when it got out of shape on some of the corners. All that winter and ice driving with the family station wagon when she was a kid in Pennsylvania was remembered, and translated very well.
