Default The Wave

Having owned my first 911 for six months now, I'm finding one of the simple joys of driving the car is the wave from other p-car owners. Got to admit I was always a little envious watching motorcyclists with the arm down when passing.

I find more waves from the "classic" owners. Newer model drivers don't seem to respond back. What's your experience?

Having owned a couple of Jeeps, I was all to familiar with the "Jeep Wave", and was somewhat disappointed to find that not all P-car drivers acknowledge each other. I too have found that owners of WC 911s share my enthusiasm, but I seldom get responses from owners of newer cars.

I wave at all... some wave back.

I stopped getting upset at those that "dont get it" a long time ago

I always get either "the wave" or "the blink" from other classic P-cars.
Most of the time with the newer models.
And I don't think most Cayenne drivers realize that Porsche made cars before SUVs...

Most cayenne drivers are oblivious or on the phone.

There are "heritage" owners and "nouveau" owners. I don't expect a wave from Cayenne & Boxster owners, and I'm rarely disappointed.
But Carrera owners of any era will almost always give a wave.

I drive a Jeep and MR2, those owners always wave. Other p-cars waving or blinking is pretty common and normal.

I never got a thumbs up or wave from a newer "generic " 911 driver ...
Had my 911 at the local dealer to pick up some parts for my race car and two different "newer " car owners
walked by outside and didn't even look at my 89 or even acknowledge it was parked there, i couldn't believe it.

Anyhow, the crowd in the service area waiting room all have their polo blazers draped over their shoulders and seem to enjoy the
free complimentary fancy coffee and pastries.
Oh well ...

Cheers
Phil

Talking

LOL^^^^^^^^^

I live in cottage country so we get lots weekend Porsche SUVs, 992s, etc. most who are oblivious to the wave or flash of the headlights. But then I usually get approached in a parking lot by a man or a woman who recounts fond memories of their old 911…..first love, best boyfriend/girlfriend…..you get the gist.

Back in the days, Porsche people use to wave all the time. I don't see that anymore. There are lot of people who owns new P-cars now who are not car enthusiasts per say, for them these are just cool cars that allow them to go A to B in style
