Default Waving at Each Other

OK, so I am fairly new at this but whats your take on waving?

When 2 motorcycles pass each other on the road it is "normal" for them to wave at each other (except Harley to Jap bike cross overs) especially in winter for the hardcore riders

When 2 Jeeps pass, same thing.. a friendly wave

Other "vintage" sports cars... same thing

Yet I have yet to get a single lifted finger from another P-car driver (so I have stopped trying)
Is this just because where I live or is this more the "norm"

Voice your opinion....

There are different types of P car drivers. Some love their cars, some love themselves.

Here in Pittsburgh where peeps are friendly, a wave is common.

I wave to most I see....and get a wave back maybe half the time...maybe less. But when I see someone in a parking lot with a similar car....it turns into a 1/2 hour conversation...almost ALL the time.

I initiate a wave a lot less than I use to. You get a little beaten down by nobody returning the greet. Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised when someone else initiates. Maybe as a group we deserve our reputation??

here here.. i agree with the 1/2 hour (or hour) parking lot conversations even with non p-car owners (and most of the time THEY initiate it... like "WOW, Nice car, what year is it".....here we go!)

I recall reading that the double headlight flash is the "secret" handshake for P-cars. I used to see it more, but now, with so many Porsches on the road, there's almost no acknowledgement. I still flash my lights though.

I have been "waved" at by a few here, including a Carerra GT recently. But for the most part, nada.

Truth is, a lot of Porsche owners these days are dicks that think they're better than everyone 'cause they own a Porsche. Well, they might be right, we are better because we own Porsches, lol, but we don't have to be dicks about it. At first I looked over & waved all the time, but too many are just way too **** to respond. I think they need to get laid.

On the other hand, non-Porsche owners either love or hate you.

You get a lot of cute golddiggers waving & saying "NICE CAR!" or nice people who stop you in the parking lot & ask you about the car. I've had sooo many good looking girls that I don't even know ask me "when are you gonna give me a ride?" I just ignore them because I'm not really in the mood to get all my money squeezed out of me.

THEN, there's the idiots in Mustangs (especially the hideous 90's ones), Chargers, or other "muscle cars" & the ricers in their Lancers, Eclipse, & other 2 Fast 2 Furious crap. Most of them give dirty looks & rev their engine so you can hear their crapping-sound straight pipes they bought at Autozone for .99 cents, & they hate on you 'cause they know you're better...

But worst of all, the Corvette or Viper owners. I don't think they realize my car isn't a 1/4 mile car like theirs. It's a REAL sports car. The other day, a moron in a Corvette was next to me at a stop light revving his engine, I just ignored him as he sped off. He then slowed down until I caught up & he started beeping & flipping me off, then driving like an idiot, going in front of me & purposely braking & just doing stupid ****. Some people seriously have mental problems. He got pissed 'cause I hurt his gay Corvette ego by ignoring him. He should sell his car & use the money to buy a full time psychologist.

I don't wave at 996+ owners anymore, it seems they are upset they aren't the only ones who own a Porsche. The 993 and older Porsche owners wave all the time.

Import cars don't give me a hard time. Evo's and STI's only want to race from a stand still because they believe they have superior traction but they don't realize that 911's have engines over their rear wheels(although we don't have a clutch that can really handle too many crazy lauches). Corvette owners typically drive slow but it seems the word is out that C6's are faster and handle just as well as 997's 997's do so they, c6's, ten to challenge a bit more. C5's you can beat in a 1/4 mile, you've got traction they don't.

I France I used to waive and guys will reply.
Here (CA) I waive or flash lights and almost nobody replies... I feel like an idiot.

Now I flash only 'special' P cars (vintage, racing look, or that have a sticker on windshield that could be PCA or something, etc) and the return is about 50%... from far better.

F360, C6 and new Vipers are car I take care about because if the driver is not too bad he can kick a 996 pretty easily... except in the mountains
