Default What's a good price to pay for a wrecked '86 cabriolet?

I found a nice 1986 911 Carrera Cab thats somewhat close to me that has been wrecked in the LF pretty hard.... All four tires and wheels are good, the 3.2L engine has 97K on it with a full rebuild around 70K. the 915 shifts good with no issues and the interior is also in very nice shape(non sport red leather interior). the car also has a whale tail and nice 17" twists on it. I could definitely use some but not all of these parts so I was wondering what a fair offer would be for a car like this? thanks for any help you can give!

Pictures would help. Are you buying as a parts car or a possible rebuild?

i wouldn't give any more than the engine and gearbox are worth if you were to part it out.

Figure the total value around $12-$13k, and offer 50% for parting out expense and labor, storage etc.

I'm in the $6-8K camp pending condition.

PS- "Nice 17" Twists" just aren't possible.

No, I'm thinkin $6,000 to $6,500 if it's worth around $12,000 because you'll have to pay yourself or someone else for the transport, breakdown, storage, etc etc.

More like know wrecked condition. Engine rebuild at 70K? Who did it and why? No way to evaluate this car other than scrap metal value. There is a big risk in this kind of purchase with nominal yield in the end...at best. Did somebody buy it back from the insurance Co. thinking it was worth money? If so, they got stuck with a big headache they can't give away. Not knowing anything else, I'd offer 2K and run away, not walk. If it had good Fuchs on it, you might recoupe a portion of it's purchase price.
