I have an after market tail light lens that has the coating flaking off. Does anyone know of a paint (and source) that i can spray on that will also be transparent enough for the light to be seen?

Check with sign manufacturers. Particularly one's that do work for the city and specialize in reflective and translucent signs.

Try your local hobby shop. I painted my tail light lens with Testors transparent candy apple red, came in a small spray,I painted the exterior of the lens you can see the tail lights in this picture they show thru clearly.

Someone else told me about the Testors 1605 Candy Apple Red spray paintI'll try a hobby shop tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback.

I've used the Testors to turn clear lenses red on my old 928. It is great stuff.

I found a can of Testors #1605 Transparent Candy Apple Red spray paint at Hobby Lobby here in San Antonio. I'll post results when I've completed redoing the lens. Thanks for the help.

I painted the inside of the tail light lens today with the Testors #1605 spray paint. It applied very well and tonight I turned the lights on and was happy the left one looks just like the right side. Thanks for the suggestion.
