Default Replacement Radio

I doubt many of us still have the OE radios in our cars. I'd like to get info from those who still have them, or were responsible for the change. My '89 originally came with a Reno & a Blaupunkt amplifier. The amp is still in the car, but disconnected. I presently have an Eclipse head unit & McIntosh amp. I have upgraded front speakers that I'm told are very good, but the fader has to put most of the muscle up front. I found an NOS Blaupunkt "San Diego" that looks spot-on in the car.

When I listen to sounds, I generally listen to talk radio. If I go back to the "old ways", will I be able to understand anything?

Thanks for your input.
Richard

Thanks guys. Info appreciated, it sounds like Blaupunkt does not necessarily equal junk, but I'm still hoping for more opinions.

Another question: I see a lot of different names for the same SQR number radio. 'Wassup' with that?

I've got a Blaupunkt MP74 Bremen in black. It has 3 pre-amp inputs, all used, and a calibration mic. Very nice.

No way will I go back to the factory pos Blau though.

Any more info or opinions on 'period radio' sound quality?

Thumbs up replacement radio

I will add another plug for Stefan with SW Stereo. Excellent service and a pleasure to do business with. I bought a Blaupunkt Dearborn from him with the I pod connection for my 87 911. Sounded great once I bought new speakers. He also repaired my Bluaupunkt Reno that originally came with the car. Excellent service and communication.

Sony's Japanese to English translator must have been on vacation when they came up with that name.

I'd sure like to hear from a couple of people who still use the OE radio from years '86 -'89.
