Default Fasten Your seat Belt

On a 911 carrera Coupe 1987

Has anyone had this problem? Every time I stop at a light or stop sign, upon accelerating from a stop the fasten seat belt warning lights up for a few seconds. Sometimes (especially at night) it gets to be annoying.

If I am not mistaken the the brake warning light is next to the seatbelt light - check to make sure its not low brake fluid causing the switch to activate. Just got pic from Google search but in top pic you can see both red lenses above the radio...

I am pretty sure it is not a breack fluide story, since it really sound like an electrical issue, since while it does this i have also the dashbaord lighting that goes up then back down.

I had a similar issue with the brake pad warning light would activating periodically...turned out to be dirty connections...cleaned them all up and haven't had a recurrence in months (which means it will illuminate today)

I would check connections first. Try to isolate the switch. Not sure how easy it is to disconnect it at the buckle receiver but you might find a little corrosion is fouling the contact. Does it happen if you wiggle the reciever around. I've never had a similar problem with my 911 but had all sorts of issues with my 69 XKE.

x2.
When my voltage regulator starting going out, my fasten seatbelt light did the same exact thing. I tried everything to fix it and nothing worked until I replaced my alternator. (VR is built into the alternator.)

Pretty easy to check at the cigarette lighter with a meter and an old cig lighter plug with the wires on the DMM leads. I'd do it before it has a chance to fry something important...
