Question RS rear shelf

I am installing a roll bar in my 85 coupe which will require the removal of the rear seat backs. I was thinking of removing the seats completely and going to something like an RS rear shelf. Any input on weight savings (if any) and a source for this part? Thanks.

Nate;

From personal experience, the parcel shelf is quite heavy. It is made out of 5/8 plywood. I would thing that your rear seat weigh less.

If you want to save weight, just carpet the back -- RS style. Kevin's right. The parcel shelf is heavy. Unless you run a delivery service, I don't see the point of it.

As I recall, my RSA rear shelf weighs 24#. I removed it before putting the roll bar in. I gained more space for stuff, and lost rear weight as well.
