Coming soon to a state near you....!! Philly is going broke, a couple cities in Ohio, I saw a whole slew of places close to upside down. Don't think for a moment Calif has a lock on financial woes-we are just bigger and more newsworthy.

I assume, living in San Diego, that there is a red light camera at every intersection. I don't take chances there.

I don't pass stopped busses, I have insurance, etc, etc. It has been assumed the last year or so, that the grace overage on the freeway is maybe 5mph now. So, none of this is news, IMO. Cities and the state need revenue.

What kills me is the moron that can't provide proof of insurance....$796 fine? Like they'll be able to pay that! So, that turns to a warrant, said Moron gets busted, costs the state thousands to prosecute and provide a PD. Digging a deeper hole, neccessitating an $1100 fine for lack of proof of insurance, and.....what a tangled web we weave!

As more and more cities face budget problems I fear we're going to see more of this kind of thing. Those are certainly excessive fines ......with the exception of parking in a handicapped space. That violation should be double that amount for someone that isn't disabled and parks in a handicapped space.....not that it's ever enforced.

law makers have run a muck and the only way they can think to make things right is to make more laws. At some point every human on the planet will be a law breaker - if not already -

wow - $900 for parking in the wrong spot, that's pretty rediculous even if I agree - it clearly shows they are uninterested in safety because you could drive 50 in a residential neighborhood (posted 25) while texting with ear plugs in and still have $300 to blow on Coke for the street races with your fartcan muffler

whats with the ear plugs? Is hearing required to drive? I dont recall taking a hearing test.... if you are legaly deaf and wore earplugs would you get a ticket???

clearly - lawmakers are brilliant people

I guess firetruck drivers are exempt on the headsets? I see them regularly. Possible defense?

most of us know the "right guy" to send your tickets too anyhow, so it really doesnt matter I guess....

I had a $704 ticket the first week of owning the 86' - while on a PCA Porsche tour no less... let me tell you I got ALL the ribbing at lunch because I was 7th in line of about 100 cars and everyone saw me getting my spanking.

the "right guy" and it was thrown out of court so its just a racket - blood sucking lawers ! (gotta love em )

So Ed,
I "found" the right guy when I was eating lunch on that Porsche Tour... no less than 5 people said, "call this guy"
ask around I am sure people know - err better yet avoid needing him/her

Google upside down city governments. Philadelphia wil default on their pension obligations a few years before San Diego. And SD is highly mismanaged.

Like I said, Calif has not cornered the market.

California is sure as hell trying to kill off private industry you gotta admit that. At least they do not care if jobs leave the state.

No doubt, and we have tons of issues. I just laugh when people from elsewhere point at us thinking we're the only ones. There's plenty of bad government spread throughout the land. And even if your fortunate to live in a state that is in better shape than most, such as Texas, we're all still under the watchful eyes of Washington DC.
