I'm really looking forward to bolting up the Stage 8 fasteners on the CV.

Ed, have you installed yours yet?
Get that puppy running!

Sorry to say, I've not touched the fasteners.

Looks like a very nice job! Make sure that your flywheel has a ferrous ref pin!

Here's a pic of the engine ready to be installed...... Ed, note the new engine mount!

Rusnak, I checked it three times.... I don't want to have to go back in.

And here's a shot of the transmission...... I bit the bullet and had a shop go through the box. They replaced all syncros, needle cage bearings on 4th gear and the output shaft bearings.

Hey I think you missed a spot on cleaning. No you didn't, that's a spec of dust on my monitor.

Finally! I got her buttoned up and on the ground last night.
No leftover or missing parts!

I pulled the DME and cranked to build pressure. After a few seconds of cranking, the oil pressure light went out and the gauge was showing about 2 bar.

I installed the DME relay and cranked again. After a few seconds of cranking, she fired up. The car idled perfectly and was very stable. I quickly found a small fuel leak on the "J" hose connection. After fixing it up, all was perfect.

I let the car idle a bit and shut her down.

Today I fired her up and went for a spin at lunch. The transmission was a little clunky at first, but once I ran through the gears a few times, it began to shift very smoothly. The 4th gear whine is also gone.

I took the car for a state inspection/smog this evening. All emitted levels were no more than 25% of allowable levels..... Passed with flying colors.

I'll post pics and video tomorrow.

To summarize the work done, here's a list.

Transmission stuff
- Clutch
- Pressure plate
- Release bearing
- Release bearing arm update
- Flywheel
- Flywheel bearing
- Flywheel seal
- Slave cylinder and hose
- Transmission refresh (New synchros, 4th gear needle bearing and differential output bearings)

Chassis
- New soft rubber brake lines

Engine - Fuel injection
- Engine speed sensor
- Reference sensor
- 2-Wire CHT sensor
- Fuel injector service
- Intake rubber boot
- New fuel lines (all)
- New vacuum lines and venturi
- New brake booster vacuum line
- Fuel filter

Engine - Oil
- Oil pressure sender
- Oil temp sender
- Oil pressure switch
- Oil temp switch
- Engine oil cooler clean and test

Engine - Seals
- Oil thermostat O-ring
- Intermediate shaft seal
- Intake gaskets
- Intake spacers
- Timing chain cover gaskets
- Tensioner O-rings

Engine - Misc
- Valve adjust
- Muffler gasket
- Engine mount bracket
- Motor mounts
- S-hose
- Tensioner oil lines
- O2 sensor
- Plugs
- Distributor cap
- Rotor
- Fan belt

Work - Misc.
- Cleaned engine thoroughly
- Cleaned fan with buffing wheel
- Cleaned engine tins
- Stage 8 half-shaft bolts
- Heaterbox - Exchanger hose
- Adjusted rear bumper alignment

- Added tether restraint hook for Oliver's car seat

I'm sure there is more, but this is all I can remember. I keep telling Oliver that the next time the engine comes out, he can do it!

Thanks for all the help and feedback, guys!

Many cans of Brakleen died so your engine could live a clean life.......

Only two cans of Chain Clean from Motorex and some Simple Green + Lots of elbow grease.
I think I killed a small forest by using the blue paper towels.

The Chain Clean cleans grime without attacking seals..... Especially the through-bolt O-rings.
