the car is a 911 SC, so looking for a plug-n-play 3.0 or 3.2 for a daily driver.

my racecar is a BMW, so i have no need to tear into a 911 motor.

quoted price from Oklahoma Foreign for a 95K mile 3.2 motor and tranny is $6500 (motor) and $2500 (tranny rebuilt).

waiting for a quote for a 3.0 motor/tranny

what would you guys do?

EDIT>.......school me on the difference in 3.0 vs 3.2. Fully electronic ECU for 3.2 vs ? for 3.0?

and this motor looks a bit tempting as well, except for the prolonged non-use. would it require a teardown again if it has sat for a few years?

M3 motors are easy to find because of all the wrecks from people that get in a bit over their head. Flame on.

If you can get a good used 3.2 and a trans for around 7.5k I think you did all right.

i bought the SC as a roller with no motor or tranny.

the euro M3 motors are very difficult and expensive to find. US M3 motors (completely different animal) are plentiful and cheap

3.0 is CIS and you will probably need to replace or service the CIS injectors and related parts if the motor has been sitting for a while.

Once in a while someone will have the complete CIS system for sale unless you plan on converting to carbs.

Thanks to Kirk at Zims in Texas, I was able to purchase a complete 3.0 motor/ exhaust/ gearbox from an 83 SC with all electronics.
I'll clean it up and look at the clutch, probably replace the RMS, and hopefully get it installed in the next week or two.

We have a few customers who have rented our engine test stand for pre-purchase inspection of 911 engines. $75 plus shipping.

see http://zalexindustries.com/911.html and
http://zalexindustries.com/lease.html
for more info.

Let me know if I can help.
