....customary in japan, always on 1st meeting to use last name (nakai-san),
after a bit of a relationship is established & perhaps with a "car guy" that may only be 1 or 2 meetings moving to a "1st name basis" (with -san of course) likely ok.
without meeting him in e-mail exchange or telephone conversations i nor my (japanese) wife would use 1st names....
this guy is a bit of a celebrity in japan (even tho his shop/office) looks like a bit of a shack....i would be willing to bet a lot of his customers only use formal last basis.

has anyone seen any detail pics of these cars? They appear as though they could be slap togethers... but maybe not... I have not done any research. But besides the rather oversized bodywork, what makes them special/different from what can be built pretty much anywhere?

well put....he/his customers do have strange names for their cars "natty dread" & "penthouse" rank right up there

company's website gallery of latest (apr. this ) rwb get together....just click on any thumbnail. other photos (past get togethers.....(best one is kansai winter) are under the heading " Garraly " (jpnese to mess about with r's & l's)
