Heck, send it on out! I'm game. But, it would seem like Hans and the guys at Ruf could do a much better job for Kevin. My "cousin Kevin" deserves better!

I think from a business sense, if a company like Motor Meister did change their ways and start building reliable motors with correct parts and good skilled labor, they would realize the "Motor Meister" name is tarnished in the very small Porsche community. Renaming the "brand" of Motor Meister may be the only way to continue business without the past stigma.

Is it safe to assume Motor Meister is surviving by selling their product to buyers that do not have a bias or have been influenced by other's experience? Many people buy on price alone. I can't see how they continue to do business based on what can be read about this company unless they are selling to "newbie" type buyers or buyers that simply want a running motor and only care about cost in the short term.

I agree with Ed in that their "quality" may be getting worse and worse as they try to improve margins by reducing costs on their products by substituting in cheaper and cheaper raw materials (parts) into the finished good.

Again, this is only an assumption on my part. I have zero experience with MM.

The 996's are keeping them in business.

I would also bet that while the motor has changed (water cooled), the business model has not changed...

Must be a sweet deal if you can keep getting paid to do your work over again because it was improper to start?

Price list:

http://www.motormeister.com/suz/911_..._engines_5.htm

it wasn't long ago on these boards that we all were discussing how a 911 motor rebuild was approximately $10,000 from a good shop, if you can find one that does good work on these complex motors. How can they offer rebuilt 911 motors for under $3,000????

Well damn. To think they coulda done my 3.4 "upgrade" for less than $3500! And to think I spent over $4k on my pistons and cylinders alone! Not to mention gaskets, etc.

Oh well...I guess I'll have to figure out how to live with myself knowing I made such a mistake.

Maybe in a few more years Ed, you'll be wise enough to display better judgment!

Default Rebuild

Ed,

Who did you use for your 3.4 conversion?
What compression did you do with?
Single or Twin Plug?
Injection?

I am looking to have a 3.0 SC engine increased to 3.3 or 3.4 but there are a lot of land mines out there to be dodged.

Any advise would be appreciated.

It's never too late to run from Moron Munsters...
