[QUOTE=Steve Weiner-Rennsport Systems;7936093]The key is keeping the grease inside the eCV and that means paying close attention to the boots.
QUOTE]

I think this part needs special attention. I do change the gaskets, and I usually fill the cups in the transmission flanges and the wheel stub axles with grease. I also partially fill the boots with grease to keep the grease in the cvs from getting flung out. I was dismayed to find that some of the grease had gotten out of the boots that were not clamped, which is why I clamped all 4 this time. I think I should keep a close eye on the boots. Those cvs, combined with quality boots, are a spendy item to replace every 30-40K miles.

That is why I questioned not clamping both ends of the boot. Seems to defeat the purpose by not doing so. A closed, clean environment cannot be a bad thing for a CV joint?

I did mine at 50k miles. No real wear to speak of. I also switch sides so they wear evenly. I'd say every 50k should be adequate.

Nothing new, just came across these pics I took of new untouched CV joints right out of the box, for reference in case someone ever gets lost trying to put theirs back together. I had my external hard drive out this morning, and found a bunch of old stuff like this.

Again, these are taken just seconds after opening the box, lol.

Beautiful- you gotta love NEW car parts!

When I got the new Lobro axles, they came with grease packed (with plastic caps), gaskets and new bolts.
