But wouldn't that result in a longer duty cycle for the compressor, running a higher % of the time vs high(er) pressure...??

The time that the compressor operates, on your model, is based upon the thermostat. How many hours a year do you think your compressor clutch will be engaged?

Thanks, but question:

When the evaporator makes the "Shhhhh" sound, is this at the same time when the compressor runs?

I could not tell you without hearing it, that sound could be anything from air moving through the coil, the evap fan motor, a leak, ice (moisture) in an expansion valve.

I only really hear the evaporator "sound" shortly after shutting the engine down and the remaining liquid refrigernat continues to exhaust into the evaporator via the expansion valve.
