Newbie hello - 1983 911SC Targa
Hello all. I added a 1983 911SC Targa to the stable. I'm a long time Bimmer-holic and new to Porsches. I have a feeling this isn't going to be my only one though. It's actually for my wife but I will probably do most of the work and drive it just as often as she does.
It's really fun to drive. The engine is strong and the 915 trans seems flawless. The shift linkage is a little vague, but it probably just needs a refresh. The brakes are the best I've ever had on a car. I'm not sure if they're stock or what, but they're pretty impressive. I do drive a highly modified (and boosterless) 1976 BMW 2002, so maybe that's my strong leg muscles tricking me.
A few of the annoyances are the drivers sun visor drooping down to about fore head level, wind noise from the slightly ill-fitting targa top, A/C needs an R12 refresh, no sound coming out of the speakers (remember it's the wife's), and a freakin Clifford keypad actuated security system which forces me to enter the code before starting the car. All little things considering, I can't complain after the $9k price I paid, plus it gives me something to do with this otherwise cherry example. Cosmetically the only thing that is bothering me right off the bat is the US-spec head lamps.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and introduce Eva to everyone. The learning curve is steep right now and I'll be asking some questions and searching the archives a lot. I still haven't taken any photos, but here are a few taken by the dealer.

Welcome! Beautiful car in an unusual color combination.
We're Bimmer fans ourselves. A friend of mine in high school had a 2002, and I have fond memories of taking corners at high speeds.
Good luck with that Plot....

That looks like a fairly nice Targa, congrats.
I'd remove the alarm, it seems there are a lot of problems with electrical systems that start with old alarm systems. Also, a hint would be not to fold the top, it only accelerates the destruction of the covering.

Welcome! Like you, I just bought my first---- an 83 sc. I also ran a 2002 not all that long ago. Lots of fun, that car, and fun to compare it to the sc. Enjoy.
