Default Cruising with Ruby...

We had our first Summer run on Palomar Mountain this morning. Kind of a light turnout, but all were good drivers, and all had a great time. A Carrera GT, a late model GT3RS, a 997TT, an '81 Euro 930, an SC/3.4L motronic, a C6 Z06 and yours truly made for a bit of diversity.

We left our meeting spot at 7:00am, which was a bit late, so we did see a little traffic. We met up with some slower traffic on our first run up South Grade Rd, so we went back down and did it again, traffic free. We then ran down East Grade Rd, and then made the Mesa Grande loop before coming back down through the town of Ramona and back into civilization.

On the first run up, my damned CHT plug came off again(!) right in the middle of a turn. If I wasn't awake then, I was afterward. The new CHT sensor plug just doesn't mate up with the other (26 year old) half. I had some velcro straps, so I secured it, and had no other issues. I'm going to safety-wire it. I took it to 6500 a few times, so I guess my new motor is run in now. Here's the first video of the South Grade second run, the others are uploading still, albeit slowly. Sorry for the crackling sound.....I don't know what it is-maybe the mic on the camera. Time to buy a real video camera, I guess.

Looks like a great drive. Haven't seen roads like that in Dallas. Is that an autographed glove box?

That's Patrick Long's autograph on the glovebox.

Yep, not much in N. Texas can compare, or many other places, IMO. But, you've got some great tracks: MSR, Eagle's Canyon and TMS (ALMS course) to provide some driving fun.

Its amazing even with the new motor how slow our cars are compared with modern ones.

I look at it the other way-I was right behind the 500+hp Z06 with traction control. I wasn't familiar with his driving, and kept a consistent buffer between us.

Mr. Huges, with that in mind, I felt you pretty much held your own and was right on him a few times...great driving!

Like with most of the runs the only time they "get away" is in the straights.

It's not an all out race of course, but you could tell that Ruby had to slow down for him a couple of times.

The first run, before my CHT unplugged, I was behind the TT and the GT3RS keeping up nicely, well in front of said Vette.
