Default What to do? Inputs..... please.

Alright...I'll try again.

My car is a convert..-82 911 SC now looks like the well known 993 Turbo.
The mods are done by Precision Porsche in CA. All om steel.

On this car the front reinforcement bar behind the front bumper is not installed.
I really would like to have one.

Does anyone know if the OM 993 front reinforcement bar slips on there without too many modifications?

or

Does anyone know if the om -82 bar can easily be modified for installment?

All inputs on the matter is much appreciated.

Hoyo you are way out in new territoty on this one as body kit shops are pretty well custom shops and everyone does it differently. I would guess ( and belive me it would be a really big guess ) that the SC one does not fit , becasue if it did I would imagine it would still be there.

Dear Mr. IceMan.

You are right, new territory is exactly what it is. Not only am I new to the 911 scene, I also have in my possession a 928 which is undergoing a complete restoration.

The om SC bumper bar I'm pretty sure would not without some major changes done to it.
The om 993 bumper bar on the other hand...thats another story. I think I could make it to fit with some "minor" changes done.

My hope here was that some on this board had done something similar..or maybe knew about someone that had done the operation.

If not, I'm proud to be the first one to undertake this mission. I will be the guiding light, I will discover things never seen before, I will show the way, I will sucseed in this seemingly impossible task.

Keep it up.
And as always, inputs are always appreciated.

I would contact Precision Porsche in CA by phone and ask them what is the easiest solution to your problem. They should know.

Good luck.

I have seen that conversion done before , and although it may be new territory for us as Frank Points out there must be shops that do it . I guess you could just get one from a reclaimer and see what you need to do yourself .. Good luck with the project.

Gents.
I called Precision a couple of weeks ago. I think Tony told me that they usually do the bumper bar delete.
I also think he said the best bet would be the 993 Bumper bar with alterations....I said think because I might not have been entirely sober when I called them.
I'll try to give them another call tomorrow.

In any case, I'll get some pictures taken as the project goes along.

LOL. I would think that any fabricator shop like this could handle welding up a big piece of metal to shove in there. It's not like you can see it, so it doesn't have to look good.

I'm getting the 993 bumper bar tomorrow.

I have faith in a smooth installment process.

Great Job.

I love Norway. My wife & I are both of Norwegian decent and spent 3 weeks there in the 90's. We found the farm near Al where my father-in-law's mother was born and even spoke with distant relatives. I hope to return when I retire. Yi snaker lit Norsk.

Thanks all. It looks good too.

Steve. Why wait until retirement? Flights are dead cheap these days and still dropping.
You are always welcome to stop by/ stay here just outside Oslo if another visit is on the block.

I used to live and work in Nort Myrtle Beach for 5-6 years in addition to frequent visits to Raleigh back in the nineties. Ramp 66 and the folks working there was my home away from home.
This October I'll bring my wife and daughter to visit old stamping grounds in SC.
