Default Wow..what a car.

My 911 Carrera 3.2 took me exactly 23 days to find. I looked at 4 cars online but only one in person and when I saw it, I knew it was the one. (Of course all the members here made sure that I did not lose my sense of direction). The seller's approach to maintenance was impeccable, the PPI was just an added insurance. The condition of the engine, car's interior/exterior including the original paint and Fuch's wheels is stunning. The two hour drive back from his place to mine around windy roads amidst some breathtaking scenery was surreal. What can I say...genuine Fuch's wheels, torsion bar suspension, impact bumpers, good 915 gear box...that was truly a great era that I am reliving thanks to this forum which has taught me many a lesson in 911 history. Enough said..I'll let the pictures do the talking. More to follow after a good nights rest (that is if I can stop myself from going back to the garage to take one final look before I retire to bed)....

I'm happy for you. You made a superb buy. What a car. This worked out well because you were patient, had the car in mind you wanted, and were not budget driven. You are lightyears ahead of the budget shopper and you will enjoy this car today and well into the future.
Congrats.

I can hear the excitement in your post, and I'm re-living my same journey home in a 3.2 911. The car had an almost tank-like kinetic feel compared to the 911SC. I could feel the extra weight as well as the stiffer torsion bars and extra torque. I also thought "what a car" many times. I think road trips are the 911's natural element. Your beautiful 911 is slightly reminiscent of the 911SC based Weissach coupe.

Looks like an excellent example, and especially fond of the windfarm in the background!

Congratulations, I am too reminded of the drive home post purchase. Denver to Calgary, 1300 miles in 2 days with my 14 year old. Great way to get to know the car and build an even better bond with my son!! ( of course now he wants my car)

Awesome

Rod,

See, Amar, this is the danger of these cars. Porsche has been making them for nearly 50 years, and every iteration is different. Today I was behind a beautiful silver 993 Turbo and thought "I want that car!" Luckily, they're too expensive to even think about..but SCs aren't!

I'll take one in brown, please.

I've been a 911 owner for one year and am already succumbing to the Slippery Slope. It's not fair; these cars take over your life like no others I've ever owned. Every drive you take - every little thing you fix - will make you love the car more.

Have a great weekend, all.

What?!!? You bought a 911 with a 915 gearbox??? I thought you said it was a G-50-what a mistake!

That is the ultimate way to start out-driving one's new Porsche home, especially if it is on fun roads. You're staring at her with your heart going pitter-patter, if you aren't actually behind the wheel. Enjoy your new passion.

Congratulations, you have a fine looking car there.
Pics are very well done too.

That's the best part, the falling in love. ;-)
When I was looking, I went and checked out 2 in person.
87 Black Targa, but that one didn't "speak" to me.
Then I saw the 88 Coupe (sunroof delete) That one needed more work, but it was the car.
My first drive home was all about the sensations the car was giving me.
It had been a long time since I had driven a car that gave that much feedback.
I took her out for the first time this spring a couple of weeks ago, and it was great to be back in her again.

Enjoy her :-)

Very nice looking car! And from the time of your post, we can sense your excitement. I bet you were looking at every inch of the car while you were driving too...and yes I have been there also where I go to the garage just to admire the 911 lines...there's nothing like it.

Enjoy and welcome to the obsession!!
