And if you're not a PCA member yet, I highly recommend it. The Oregon Region (ORPCA) does their DE track events and Portland International Raceway and it's reportedly a great group of people. If you have a desire to drive the snot out of the car, this is the way to go.

Spent a greater part of my time saving lives (literally) for the last 48 hours...once I go home I will post more pictures and respond to all the nice comments. I'm missing the Iceman...no comments or what ? Helios, I have a special picture just for you and your wife coming up..stay posted.. Ed (ivangene), I'm on-call this weekend otherwise would have loved to have you over (if you had the time) at my place for a one and one session with our '86's.

Okay just got the time to come home after two very long work days.
Troy the pictures where taken along the scenic Columbia river gorge in Washington.
Thank you Whalebird. Could'nt have done it without your support and encouragement. You assesment of my search was dead on. I was not budget minded at all. I knew exactly what I wanted in my 3.2: Original paint, absolutely no-mods (for example a Kenwood CD systemt IMO would destroy the character of the car), Fuch's wheels, immacualte service record, pristine interior and engine. Initially during my search, the least I cared about was the gear box. But after reading several posts and repeated rapping on my knuckles by Ed Hughes's posts mostly educating me about the historic 915 trannies (and even taunting me with comments like not everyone can drive a 915), I soon realized that if I wanted the last of the classic Carrera, I better get it with a transmission that has a period specific classic feel to it. So off went G-50's. This car was a 6/6 fulfilling all my search criteria...plus just 90 miles away from my home. So that's why I made an offer that the seller could not refuse.
Ed (ivangene): 821 is a great route, you will love Yakima river canyon road. Best road IMO with lots of windy roads with breathtaking visuals. BTW, the more I shift this cars tranny the more I think yours is as good as this one. But I would like you to drive mine and see what you think.
Dave: I am a PCA member but atleast for now weekends are totally family time...my wife and two daughters have put up very patiently with my countless hours of book, magazine and online research on Porsche's since November '09. It's my turn to give them back some love.
Rusnak, yes this is almost the same color as the Weissach edition SC. Reminds me of the GT silver which also changes its color with every passing hour of the day depending on the amount and angle of sunlight shining the car.
Ed Hughes, the second picture is for you. Am I cupping it right for the third to fourth shift.
Helios my man..thank you for helping me with the search (especially the color). The third picture is for your wife. Lord Ganesha was the first thing that went on the car after I got the keys from the seller.
Where is Iceman.....does he not like my car. I miss his presence on this thread.

Just got back in Town , was in BC for a while and didn't have much access. It's kinda hard to see the pics on a Blackberry ,
It is a VERY nice car but if your switching from Second to third like that your 915 in in very good shape or you have the worlds strongest fingers.

BTW what on earth is that stuck on the dash ? I was looking at the wheels and although I normally like the Black Fuchs on cars that looks really nice .

Amar, thanks for the mention and the pic! Enjoy your new ride. I went for a ride this morning and wished I had a coupe...my convertible top needs replacement and is full of rattles and squeaks.
Iceman, that figure on the dash is a stylized depiction of the Hindu god Ganesha. He removes obstacles...go into any Hindu business, and you'll see him.

But, that statement about ability to drive a 915 was mostly tongue-in-cheek and was aimed at the G50 proponents that were offering up advice. It was in the same vein as the friendly SC vs Carrera rivalry.
BTW, I think the word trannie has a negative connotation to it these days.

By the way I'm loving every single minute of the gear shifts. The feeling when you gently ease the lever onto the gear is just priceless. Iceman, Helios had posted a picture of lord Ganesha on my previous thread..I guess since I had mentioned that I was from India he correctly figured that I was a Hindu. Hence my picture was just of way of showing him what is somewhat of a common practice on all my cars: a dash with lord ganesha's figure on it. I did not know that trannie had a negative connotation. I learn something everyday in this place.
