Default Porsche 911 block repair

Hello, Has anyone out there has tried to repair an aluminium block case half? If so where and has it held up? Or is it not recommended. I have a 3.2 that broke a cylinder #4 and apparently the rod when broke took a chip out of the block case at the cylinder base area (ouch!)...
Thanks for any light on this subject.

You should post pics if you can. I'm going to say that you probably should get a good used block (buy both halves already matching) instead of trying to repair the old one.

Engines that have the cylinders cast in them have blocks. 911's have cases.

Search eBay or Pelican used parts or salvage yards for a replacement, it would not be cost effective to attempt a repair.

Engine cases can be welded on occasion, depending on the location and scope of the damage. I'd need to see pics to offer anything constructive.

Thanks for the responses. I'm going to upload a pic of the damaged area tomorrow.

We know pretty much anything can be fixed. But as Steve mentioned, an expert needs to determine what's going on. 3.2 cases are plentiful (I've got 2 or 3 3.0/3.2/930 sitting around). If this were a 2.7RS case that made all the difference in the world, value-wise, to keep that original case number intact......near cost no object repair?????

Thanks, Here are some pics of the broken area with the rod bend and still attached. There is a chip area on the case where the bend rod is visible.
