I picked this 72 Targa up a few months ago. It's a true 2 owner 87k original mile car. Solid as a rock, nothing has ever been touched (in a bad way). chain tensioner upgrade and radio are the only things not OE. I have redone the targa top and drivers seat both were acceptable but wearing.... as were the carpets. Brake flex lines were swollen shut so just installed a new 23mm master cyl + feed lines, brake lines and rebuilt calipers. I only need to address the cold start solenoid and a slight oil leak and she should be ready to rock.

Before I over-state the positives though, I must say the car was painted at one point in its life. Original color is signal yellow (114) and repaint was a little closer to speed or Bahama ever so slightly different and not what I would call a concour job..... whatever, the import stuff is 100% you can keep the new models, vintage is where it's at

very nice! one of the most desirable Targas... long nose / ext oil filler / bright-as-heck... & fine survivor shape (- the rear spkrs... can't have everything) w/ low miles. I know collectors who have that one on their list. enjoy!

Early 911 IS where it's at. Those cars just rip it up.

LOL, easy steve, I haven't gotten there yet I've been concetrating on the interior and brakes. Engine will get my full attn when everything else is done.

Any tips regarding the cold start solenoid? seems to be a straight fwd deal, if it was just a fuse, I would be loving life!

Wow........Very nice! A true survivor! The '72 and '73 911's are my favorite of the early cars. I'd love to find one in a similar condition to yours one day! Definitely a rare find!

The early cars are really where it's at as I said. Compared to the later cars, they really do embody the 911 experiance. My 73S could raise the hair on my neck and make my knees shake after a spirited sprint. the SCs and Carreras are a bit watered down without modifications. Not to take anything away from the later cars - I love them all, but the early cars are magic - the sound coming from those throttles is hypnotic...

Man you're really making me miss my old 69T. It was originally signal yellow but repainted black. Now if I could just find a rust-free longhood sitting in a nice dry barn..............................

$20K, huh? That car is light years ahead of the '73 1/2 T Targa I disposed of for my friend a week ago for $15K. His had no rust. As in zero/none/notevenahintof.

I thought I recognized a black 912 in the foreground, along with a Connecticut address....

I have a cold start solenoid if you need one. Email me at jwms911@comcast net

I remember when they switched to the black Targa bar, I was a kid and said, "If I get a Targa, it will have the silver bar"

That's a beauty -
