Something seems to have pushed it up. How anyone can determine it was from a jack stand is beyond me.

probably a lift arm reaching under the car at some point. There may be a matching one on the other side.

That piece of metal is fairly thin and I suspect you can pull it out by hand.

Is it scratched up on the underside at all? Almost looks like what might happen if you "high-center" over a large speed bump. If not, it looks like a lift arm could have done it too.

Default Better get under there and take a good look for crushed oil lines

They are right behind that spot.

No that was probably caused by the recommended way to lift and transport a 911.

You didn't think they still used those silly ramps to get them on the transporters upper deck did you?

You are all awesome. Thanks for the info. Sounds like this shouldn't be a deal-breaker. I may drive out to see this one Wednesday if the one I'm supposed to see today doesn't pan out.

I saw a thread recently showing a procedure to repair the oil lines. remove, presurize, and heat.

good luck on your quest.

That looks like the leading edge of the driver's side door. No oil cooler lines under there, they are on the passenger side.

Yep, driver's side. Couldn't see the car today but am shooting for Friday. Of course, since I posted the question I've spoken with owners of two other cars. This searching experience is like having a huge crush with no girl to pin it on.

Baby, I personally think that a PO may have hit a road gator or other item that some inconsiderate driver,(damn this political correctness) left lying in the road. It is an easy fix if you have patience. Mark
