Barn find, need some info ,Speedster
I found a White 911 Speedster it was built on 5/89, it also has color matched wheels in white, no leaks looks to be in excellent condition, some slight driver seat bolster wear, and shows 9,865 miles.
The roof has been in the stowed position for a few years and its sitting in a temperature controlled building.
It does have the double hump fiberglass cover over the roof/ and the lower looking windshield.
VIN WPOEB0915KS173497
Sorry no pictures. I didnt hear it run as it has a dead battery and its been sitting up on a lift.
Does anyone know what a car like this would be worth??
Thanks for your time, Stan

Speedsters command decent money. I've seen some asking/going in the high 30's, some in 50 range. I've also seen some listed at 75. Not sure where they all sell at. I think there were a couple of thousand of these made in '89 and are considered somewhat rare.

I believe there were somewhere around 800 89 speedsters sold in North America and a total of around 2000 worldwide. So it is a somewhat rare care but doesn't seem rare enough to me to demand the astronomical prices.

Ugly in my opinion, I don't understand the dollar figures attached to these cars. Also a 964 varient. If you like low, flat and wide, a 76/77 930 can be ominous.
It is impossible to say what anything like this is worth with numbers all over the map. It would be cool to see some Pictures of the real car. Is it a wide body?

Thanks for all the input, the car looks just the pictures posted, it has a wide body from the factory with the wider Fuchs painted the same color as the car .

A Speedster with low miles like that should be worth $55,000-65,000 dollars due to low miles and condition documentation would be needed for all service and repair work. I saw a couple advertised for $55,000 and $60,000 both with 35,000 plus miles. They are very collectible as not very many were made. If it has been sitting get a PPI on the car unless your getting a steal of a price than don't hesitate as it will go fast. Good luck

Speedsters like that always came to the American market as wide-bodies. The narrow body versions stayed in Europe. Some people know how to store a car and some do not, so how knowledgeable the current owners are in such things will play a significant factor in its value. Keep in mind that these cars routinely have little mileage on them--always saved as sunny weather cars.

Everything comes back to service and use. The car is on a lift, but that doesn't mean that the brake/clutch system fluid has been flushed regularly, or that those 10K miles have been on a regular basis (rather than all at once), to insure that the gasoline has been kept reasonably fresh. Check if Stabil has been added to the gas tank. Was the dead battery still in the car, or did someone remove it to protect the trunk environment? Is there a record for a valve adjustment, and periodic oil changes?
Regarding value one must go to a data source. I prefer the auction trackers/gurus; Sports Car Market magazine. Their 2010 price guide shows a high price of $60K (the most that you might sell a good #2 car), and a low price of $50K (the least that you might spend to buy a good #2 car). No two used collector cars, and the Turbo-bodied '89 Speedster qualifies, are alike, and the white car is no different. It must be judged on its own high and low points, and SCM's Guide should only be considered a starting point. That said, I would not consider buying the car without a comprehensive PPI done by a technician with an expert rating regarding 3.2 liter Carreras.
In 1989 Speedster's went for HUGE money in SoCal, bringing as much as $40,000 over MSRP in some cases (I personally know of sales in that range made by Beverly Hills Porsche + Audi, formerly known as Westwood P+A). I do not know if mind-blowing sales like this were made in other areas of the country, but only about 2100 of the cars were made, so there was a bit of a buying frenzy.
