Default Replacement Battery

Ok, I am getting anxious to bring my car out of hibernation (few months yet). I would like to start the season with a fresh battery among other things, let me know what you guy's would put in. 1987 Carerra 3.2

Thanks,

Rod

Optimas are great but make sure you have a proper mounting adaptor. They don't come with the proper adaptors for a type 91 or type 88 ( std. 911 battery) hold down. Proper hold down is critical to safety. You don't want the battery sliding around and possibly grounding out.

That's about a simple and cheap a problem as you'll encounter on a 911......

Here's a thread I put on Pelican a few years ago about my project:

Two options in Interstate:

Interstate MPT 93: 14 3/8" x 6 7/8 x 6 7/8; weight at 43 pounds (this is the long one which is difficult to remove and install because of interference with A/C Fan)

Interstate MPT 91: 11 3/8" x 6 7/8 x 6 7/8; weight at 36.7 pounds (this is the short one which is much easier to remove and install; 700 CCA as listed for use in 911 Speedster)

I think Interstate makes an AGM battery, yes. In fact I think theirs came out before the Red Top, or right about the same time. I might finally give up my old school battery, but it has probably 2-3 more years left in it.

Not the two I listed above.

This DEKA AGM has possibilities and should install as stock.

hmm..on the Interstate battery website, it looks like they are the manufacturer of Optima batteries.

Also, Exide makes an absorbed glass mat (agm) battery that they call Orbital. It looks pretty good too.
