Default She awaits her new home...

As the Garage project slowly moves ahead with the concrete pad going in today, 6 weeks later than planned, the baby sits waiting for it to cure and the walls to go up.

This all started about a month ago with supporting the roof, tearing the carport out, then progressed to digging out the perimeter to set the forms for the footer.
The footers were completed last week, and it was backfilled.
This week was spent waiting for the guy to be available to do the pad.
It was poured this morning.
The rear 18 feet of the pad are perfectly level, with the front 9 feet sloping 1 inch down to the entry.
Framing it in will start tomorrow after the forms for the pad come off.

Hopefully I will get it closed in before the snow flies.

Congrats, nice area. I wish I had done the 1" slope drop, really smart. I also forgot to make the doors so that they would close on a dropped part rather than the floor. So every windy storm I put carpet strips under the West door (roll up). Hope you beat the weather.

Default Update

Progress is slow when it's a DIY project.
Especially when you don't get a weekend off for 6 friggin' weeks in Sept & Oct.
Not to mention, deciding to gut and re-insulate the attic while I had the clear access.

Thankfully we haven't had any real snow to speak of this winter, until now.
We are getting hit today and tomorrow though, so I took the day off work and made a real push.
With the pending snow storm just starting, I managed to get the vapour barrier all in this evening and pulled the car into her new home for the first time.
Woo hoo!!!
All that is left now is the drywall, the door, and the electrical.
Hopefully I will get the drywall up this weekend.

cheers

Thanks dshep,

Got the all clear from the building inspector today.
I'm now good to complete the whole thing.
Drywall fer sure this weekend.

BTW - quite a Rush fan myself.
The guy I work for was involved with them in the early years, and a friend of mine was the laser tech on the "Power Windows" tour.
Myself, I've been involved in pro audio for 30+ years.

cheers
