Just goes to show how creative photography can make a less than perfect car look stellar.

Yes that car is rough...a sure driver. The cracked wiring over the fan housing shows it needs plug wires but after 25 years they are due!

The cracked plug wires was the most alarming or should I say telltale. If something like that gets neglected who knows what else has also. The drivers door arm rest appeared to be not secure too. The body panel gaps looked inconsistent. lots of small things that add up to a pass.

Back to the hunt.

If I took pictures of my 911 with a macro lens and a 10.0 megapixel, I'd probably be startled by what I see too

I just looked at all the photos. The one that caught my eye is the gas filler flap. Look at that paint chip. It looks like that car has a ton of re-paints on it.

Yikes. Things are getting interesting! At what asking price do we start carrying around those paint thickness detectors (or whatever they are)?

Gotta be a regular Sherlock Holmes to get to truth of these when shopping from a distance. Can't give enough thanks to the local help that provided the detailed pics.

Oh well, in the hunt again. Got a few leads I'm chasing already. Again, they are not local. Will post pics in a new thread when I get responses, and will likely seek local eyes on again.

Got a response ( a little late) from the dealer regarding some of my inquiries about the car. I know it's easy to read things into emails, but this one just seems off. His sales tactics maybe need some polishing. Read on.

I don't mind a independent PPI...but will want a deposit...
If/And what they find will be above the price that I'm selling the vehicle..
its a 25 year old vehicle and I'm not rebuilding this vehicle like new....

the vehicle is in great shape and the price is outstanding on this vehicle...
I plan on buying several more over the next two months.

Since I updated the photos...
on THURSDAY night...
I had two other emails one from MA. and NJ.
I also rec'vd a call from CT. on SAT night...

so, I just letting you know that this vehicle will most likely be sold by the end of this week...
its in excellent shape for a 25 year old vehicle...and the miles are really great.

In another month...I will have this vehicle in the 18K area...and I will get it!
The last part about getting $18k in another month really bothered me for some reason. If I had not already decided, his email would have talked me out of the car.

The link to the photos seems not to work for me. I am really curious to see as the initial pictures did look very good.

I too would be a little put off by that email you received... If he truly could get $18K in another month then why wouldn't he just wait that extra month? The extra return would warrrant it.

Pushy sales tactics really kill the feeling.

Looks like the link is dead. The PCA member who took them posted them to the web and did not send them to me directly. I was not able to copy them from the link.
