Newby help/advice SC or carrerra buy

Here's a question: are there some basic questions that you can ask over the phone that will definitely rule out a car or are you just feeling the owner out, probing here and there, and using your experience to make the go look/no go look decision? Since I have no experience, a gathering of initial questions would sure make my life easier.

That price is at the upper end of the SC value.
Where in NC are you located?

Always have an independent shop perform the PPI and I would ask to have the valve covers removed to check for broken studs and worn valver guides.
Don't rush, spring is coming (in a few weeks for us NC folks) and many more will appear on the market

My friends co-worker just picked it up.
I do not know the final price but it was in excellent shape.
