No airflow in center vents
OK,
I hope I'm not wearing you guys (gals) out. I have another question. When I turn my '85 targa's top climate control lever to the middle(full vent) and the middle lever to the middle(dash vent) I thinK at highway speed I should get some airflow. I get nothing. I can feel plenty of airflow if I turn it to the "dash vent" side. (I can feel plenty of airflow). What is up? is this a common problem? Is there a stuck "flapper" valve?

Chris,
The cables might need to be adjusted.
You need to join the SCR group in Apex Saturday mornings for Coffee and a fun Run
WakeZone Coffee around 8ish and we go for a drive around 10

Correct. Unless your car came factory with no A/C no fresh air will come through the center vents. Not sure if this goes against etiquette but I posted a 'how to' on pelican if your A/C is now removed: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...ter-vents.html

And another superb illustrated picture from Ian:
What you are seeing is that fresh (un-heated or cooled outside air) only enters via the demisting vents at the windshield, or the side window demisting vents. There is also some passive ventilation that enters and exits via the fresh air vents when the car is moving. This is supposed to offer draft-free air ventilation.

I've printed this out and put it in my glove box...I can never remember the proper settings...thanks!! Owner's manual doesn't even talk about the "Autoheat Controller." Took me a while to figure out why fresh air never came through the center vents...it's not supposed to.

While we're on the subject. I have manual heat & the only time it blows is when one of the levers is up. Is the center dial supposed to trigger a blower as well? So if both levers are down and the dial is greater than one, should I be getting heat blowing into the cabin? I've had my car since June and still trying to figure out the HVAC!
