Ed, I'm so sorry for your loss. It's amazing the way pets become part of the family and work so deeply into our hearts. All they want is food and love - and usually more of the latter.
Take care, buddy.

Geez Ed I didn't understand why you guys were talking about dogs in the Excellence thread but now I know. So sorry to hear this news. I had a dog, Stanley (Why are the ones that have names like it's your human friend, mean so much more?). We lost him a couple months back too. He was 15-16 years old Lab Pit mix. I know how you feel. I actually have a picture of Stanley on those rocks at dog beach. It sure hurts and sucks.
Remember what Will Rogers said: "If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went."
Have a good Sunday.

Ed, I just saw this thread today. As a veterinarian, you can imagine that dealing with this sort of thing is part of my job. But it doesn't mean I ever figured out what to say when someone's best friend is no longer beside them.
All I know is that true love never dies. And I've never known a love more true than that of a dog.
