A very sad day for me, but Heaven has a new angel
I write this with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes. My beloved dog Charlie died in his sleep last night. I was out of town at a trade show and got the call early this morning from my wife. After an hour of crying, I flew home with more sobbing on the plane. He was upstairs on his bed, and looked like he was at peace.
We got him downstairs and into the back seat of his truck for one last ride. He is 110lbs, so that wasn't easy considering the state we were in. I got everything situated with him and then back to the airport for a sad ride back to work. I've never lost anyone or anything that I love more than Charlie. We got him when he was a tiny thing right after we were married 10 years ago, so he was our child. Please say a prayer for him and know that there is a wonderful new angel in heaven.
We'll have his ashes back in a few days. I'm going to spread them in all of his favorite spots starting with the beach in California and ending up in his home state of Texas.
I'm sorry, I know I jump on people for getting off topic here, and this certainly is. But, I grieve and consider a lot of you friends.
So long old buddy,

Our dogs are all angels, I think. My heart goes out to you and your wife, Ed. I am enjoying my walks with my little one, and I think she is slowing down in order to enjoy them more. That is what I tell myself. I also say that she would never want to leave me. Charlie you are a good soul.

Thank you guys, your thoughts mean a lot to me. I'm happy that whatever pains he had are no more. I'm back at my hotel sitting in the dark by the pool remembering all of our adventures together. My wife is home in our suddenly empty house, which would be a lot tougher. I'm an emotional wreck over this, but I do smile from time to time between sobs as I remember the joy he brought Debbie and I. Hug your pets more, they are precious moments.

Ed, MaryKay and I are so sorry for your loss. We lost our two dogs this past year, one right after Christmas to liver cancer and one this past summer to congestive heart failure. These guys become an integral part of the fabric of your family. Cherish the memories Charlie left you. Our hearts go out to you guys.

Ed, we all know what strong passion you have for everything in your life. Keep some of Charlie's ashes in Ruby and take him on every ride.
Take care my friend.

Ed, so sorry to hear about Charlie. Our dogs truly are family members and it hurts greatly to lose them. I've modified my avatar to my favorite picture of our dog Chloe in honor of Charlie's passing.

I woke up at about 3, when he liked to wake me up for a quick trip outside. A few other pics I had on my phone. 2 of his favorite places: in bed with us and at the beach in Del Mar.

quite sad,...I love my babies as you do, Ed.
I wish you the best,..maybe time to find another baby and do it all over again.....
...as there exists nothing to compare to the unconditional love from a pet....
...shedding a tear for you and Charlie.....

Oh Ed, this is killing me. I have written on this before in another sector of this website. While in the military I was around my share of deceased heros. It didn't affect me all that much.
But loosing a pet? I turn into gel.
Maybe Charlie has met Sid by now.............

Ed,
Sory for your loss. I too am some how more sensitive when pets pass or worse have to be put down. People can make their own decisions and own way. But pets rely on you 100%, they give you true unconditional love. I have had to put 2 of my dogs down, most recently my Irish Wolfhound Clifford. All 160 lbs of him. I held him until his last breath. Devastating.
Just remember the good times and know that he is not hurting. He's running free on some celestial beach somewhere.
Last night I had my black lab Jack in the garage last night while work on my SC, Man's best friend indeed.
Give it time.
Brgds, Peter
