I lost my beloved dog Beethoven January of 2008 from kidney failure....I cried all week before and after..so I know the pain. I ended up picking up Abigail through labs4life about a month later from the Katrina disaster..she is a black lab and compliments my yellow lab Lily quite well. Lily had a tough time after Beethovens death so I did what was right and what he would think was right..rescue another dog in need of a home...it sure made the pain easier.

As I said in the e-mails buddy, I'm so very sorry to hear this. I won't forget the fun times we had in the garage and Charlie coming out to hang with us. He was the sweetest dog. I feel for ya man, I really do. I'll see if I have any pictures of him as we hung out.

You guys are all great.

Sean- I remember one of my race parties in the garage. I think I bbq'd a corned beef roast for sandwiches. Charlie lined up in the chow line with everybody else. One of the guys. And he didn't drink any of our beer.

Anyone who has loved a dog understands what you are going through Ed. My Husky/Wolf mix Ivan is buried on my friend's property in Alaska and my Malamute Zoe's ashes are planted under a birch tree in the yard. After I lost the second dog the pain was so great I swore I'd never get another one. Dog's posess many of the good qualities of people but none of the bad ones. They are pure and honest much like our P-cars! It may be hard to believe now but over time the good memories of life with Charlie will outweigh the pain of losing him.

I finally caved in two months ago, took the kids to the local pound, and rescued a one year old golden/pointer mix "Penny".

Sorry to hear about your loss. I have not been thru this in a while since my dogs past away when I was younger. It is very difficult. this makes me think of my current dog and it happens to be my wife's first dog. I know I will be upset I just can't imagine her being her first dog etc.

I think we all say that we will never get another dog, but always do. They bring so much joy and just a bit of pain and ask for nothing but some attention.

Sorry again and just remember the good times!!

Oh man Ed, I'm so sorry to hear that. We've lost two Corgi's which my wife raised from puppies in recent years and know what it's like. I was bummed when I borrowed the engine stand that I did not get to meet Charlie...I almost asked about him when I was there but figured he was in the house snoozing by the fire or something.
Later,
Buck

Ed, my condolences on your loss. The wife and I went through the same ordeal 4 years ago. We lost both our cats (one 18 & the other 18 1/2). I've been with buddies in combat and lost a few, but I did not feel the loss like I did when those two cats left us.

Larry, that is a fantastic picture. My doggie also advises me on chassis set up.
