Post SC FENDERS

Hello, does anyone know whether a SC fender from an 83sc would fit 79sc? Also, would anyone have a right front fender and door for sale that will fit a 1979 911sc? Thanks

Jim, would love to see a picture of your conversion. I have an 80 Targa as well and I have recently toyed with the idea. Did you use steel flares for the rear with 930 fenders. Did you go used or new for the parts. Finially what was the all in cost.

Thanks

Atl, yes I used steel all around. I was fortunate to find perfect used front 930 turbo fenders, rockers, valence and rear wing (base). The rear flares are steel and new. The car is currently in the body shop and they are close to putting paint on it (was stripped to bare metal as I'm having a color change to seal grey from that 80's brown). The shop which is doing the work specializes in corvettes and restorations...final bill for the body work (welding in rear flares), stripping the entire car down to metal, removing all the parts (glass, rubber, doors etc. ) for painting..paint and reassembly is going to be around 7k. Other body parts, seals etc was about 2k. So, not bad for a wide body done the way I want! I tore out the interior myself making the painting easier. I do have an extra set of turbo rockers and turbo rear bumper extensions if you want to start collecting parts!

You might find that the earlier fenders don't have a hole in the side for the indicators.

Jim - Thats a great price for your conversion and sounds like a lot of fun. Where did you acquire most of your parts? What size spacers are you using for the front and rear? Did you think about stripping down the car yourself and then pay for stripping, painting, and reassembly?

Atl...various places for the parts. There is a great shop (basically mail order) in Indiana that Stoddards referred me to..they get me alot of odds and ends. Some parts I've gotten from Vertex in Florida. Alot I've gotten off of ebay believe it or not. Most of the body parts I got from a Porsche Conversion Shop that was shutting down...they had some parts on ebay.

I haven't measured spacers yet as a place called Wheel Enhancements recommended that I wait to have the final tire/rim combo mounted and then measure. They are assuming the fronts will be fine with 7.5" rims with 23mm offsets and guessing I'll need 2" spacers with 9" rims with 15mm offsets. I'm contemplating putting C2 Replica wheels on from Mille Miglia via Tire Rack which come with the early offsets (also sell Turbo Twists with early offsets). Trying to find Fuchs in 9X16" for the rears is just too hard/costly. I've torn alot of the car down myself (gutted the interior and easy stuff like that) and left the body work etc. to the pros. Should be out of the shop in 2-3 more weeks.

Interior is dark brown leather, no rips or tears. Door panels, back quarters, rear shelf, back seats, console excellent. The seats have no tears or "roughing" on bolsters..but the dark brown is alittle faded on the bolsters...a redye and they would be great. I do have pictures of it in/out of the car.

I'm putting in a new grey/green leather interior in it taken out of a car turned track car..so I have this one sitting around.

Where is the place in Indiana that you are getting various of your parts at? Sounds like you're going to have a great summer.

I'm in South Bend Indiana. The place I've been getting parts from is in Indianapolis. Name of the shop is "Doc and Cys" (not sure if the spelling on Cys is right). Their phone number is 1-800-950-0356 and ask for James (he's great...tell him Jim the 930 guy sent you!).

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks Jim. I was going to buy a 1980 911sc that had extremely bad rust damage to the front fender. There was probably rust in the interior, since the car seals were worn and water would leak through the car when it rained. The car was really mistreated by the owner, so my mechanic advised me that it would be too much money to restore. The motor had 133K on it and it ran strong but I realized it would take too much money to fix the rust, it was even in the doorjambs. I am still hunting for my 911sc, so I may take you up on some of those parts. I appreciate all of your help. Thanks

That's a Euro thing....US cars don't have those.
