This thread may be my greatest RL achievement!
Having owned my car for one year now, I'm still taking it all in. I'd have to say that no other vehicle has ever provided so much total sensory input as this one.
I still remember the first time I ever sat in an air-cooled 911. It was at the dealership and I thought it had a gas leak! No...that's just how they smell...and I love it now.

Having come from the 996 that was well tinkered with I can say I have some room for growth in the new to me 86'
Nice Thread Idea !

I'm happy my car is NOT red!
I had a red S2000 for four years, and was constantly getting harassed by other drivers who thought I wanted to race.
No, I just had to hit 6000 rpm before I could get the damn thing to move!
(no offense to S2000 drivers...I still miss that car).

What do I like best....
She's 32 and a beautiful European
Only been with one other guy
Low maintenance and never complains
Give her a bump and she's awake

Great thread Helios. How come no one has mentioned about the unique 'clack' of the door closing. To me the whole sensory experience of my 911 starts right there even before I crank the ignition key on the right ..oops did I just say that... left side of the steering wheel

The door click is critical to the 911 experiance. Old/wrecked/sometimes targa/cab cars have a different sound. You can tell a lot about a 911 by the doors and ALL should have this sound. I have seen time capsule 60s vintage 911 that sound just like a 993-it's awesome. I would say this is one of my profound disappointments in the post 993 cars. These are mechanical cars.

Whalebird, I did not realize that the targa's/cab's may not have that metallic clack when their door closes...but they more than make up for it with their unrivalled direct connection with nature in addition to what their 911's provide.
