You don't need much, Keith. My engine has stock SC cams and pistons, European racing headers, and Phase 9 mufflers. It put out 240 hp on an engine dyno at Jerry Woods Enterprises.

You have a stock 78 Sc and went from 180 to 240 HP changing exhaust alone ?
am i reading this right ?

There is no Emissions Control in Florida so far. Apart from the track, the question is how smooth the PMO's behave on a normal street driving, specially in 1st and 2nd gears at low revs or in heavy traffic ? Does it behave like those NASCAR cars or GT3"s RSR leaving the pit on the way to the track, burping with hick-ups ?

There is a little hesitation from idle in 1st gear. I'm sure this can be tuned out for a street car. I don't notice this on the race track!

This is all about configuration, setup, and initial tuning,...

If one spends the time to get this all perfect, these are very well behaved.

Are you still running the stock 8.5/1 Pistons? Or??

Stock ports/valve seat angles/valve guide length?

Wonder at what rpm HP peak is?

Exhaust makes a signifficant differance.

I am a beliver that the stock SC/Carrera cams are a very good cam. Kind of a more modern E cam.

Plus, 240hp on JW's dyno I suspect is a consertive rating from numbers I have seen in the past. One can add and easy 10hp to that to compair to other's calulated FWHP from RWHP numbers.

Are the 3.0's mostly dominante in the 911Spec? How are the 3.2's doing?

PMO makes the new EFI kit. Looks very similar to the Carb setup. Anyone have experience with that setup on a 3.0 SC?

This one is really better for several reasons, one of which is that the end runners are straight and do not have the power-robbing dogleg in the intake runners.

From what I recall, peak hp was at 7k. I will run the car in spec 911 so the valves and top end are stock except for the valve springs and retainers. The pistons are also stock. The PMO's were tuned on the JWE's engine dyno and it showed that I gave the best hp and torque using Phase 9 mufflers. I spoke to Jerry Woods about doing programable fuel injection and ITB or 964 intakes and he was very interested. This arrangement would cost me something north of 15k and would make better hp and torque. How much? Don't know. I don't have that king of money to spend! The top cars are driven by the best drivers and are the best prepared. This does not mean they make the most hp. These cars really respond to suspension, tire pressure, and driving technique changes. The best of the bunch get all of these just right on race day. A spec 911 is capable of 1:48 at Sears Point and 2:01 at Thunderhill. They can probably get to 1:42 at Laguna Seca. This is on the RA-1 tire.
