Default Will Carrera 3.2 Heat Exchangers Fit a 911 SC?

Will the factory 1988 Carrera 3.2 heat exchangers fit onto a '78 911 SC? If so, what modification is needed?

Yes. I think they are identical.

Only difference might be the flange thickness, 84+ Carrera flange I think is thicker, so you would might need longer exhaust studs.

I have a nice set off of a 81 ROW car for sale if you need. Exchangers, front muffler (not a cat) and main muffler.

I can't comment on the accuracy of that statement.... but I can say that if you need to change the studs, it will be much easier and cheaper in the long run to buy the appropriate exhaust rather than trying to swap studs. You WILL have problems, and most likely will have to drill out a stud or two.

It's pretty cheap to mill the flange too. Just a thought

This is true.

This is very true.

+1
I have a set of thick flange exchangers sitting on my wall because i didn't realize this ( I also have a thin flange 78 ) the rewards are just not worth the risk of trying to remove 12 exhaust studs to put in a used set of exchangers that weren't meant to fit. Figured I would just wait for a local guy with the opposite problem and trade him.
