Weissach question
Hi Guys,
I have a question about the Weissach 911. I recently saw something on the net that mentioned the Weissach 911 is a non-turbocharged 911 with a 930 body. I know the Weissach was a limited edition SC with special colors, special interior, front and rear spoilers, and the standard 3.0 engine. I have looked at pictures and to me the bodywork looks like that of a standard SC. I do not see the largely flared fenders that are found on 930s? I am I correct in thinking the article is wrong and that the Weissach 911 did not use a 930 body? I used the search function here and found lots of great pix of Weissachs and they all look to be the non-930 bodies. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks in advance,
Dino

This is a confusing statement. The 911 and 930 share the same body, and the body is not what made a Weissach coupe. It was a 911SC with special colored paint and matching leather interior, an early whale tail, mudguards, and a little plaque on the dash. It didn't have 930 suspension, brakes, engine, or flares.
It's like saying you want to go to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in order to have a Ruth's Chris baked potato.

Thanks for confirming no 930 fender flares, suspension or brakes.
Another article I saw said, "Weissach Edition dropped the Turbo, added the 930's body.
Seems like a lot of inaccurate descriptions are flying around. To me, the 930 body includes fender flares. Therefore, a Wessach Edition has a 911 body, not a 930 body, even if the door panels, hood and roof are identical. Without the fender flares its not 930 bodywork.
Best regards,
Dino

I'm restoring my Weissach right now and it is a sc body, not a turbo body. The car does have the early turbo front and rear spoilers along with the early 15x7x8 Fuchs.

I'm not sure what the sharkfin is, but the Weissach Coupe 911 came with rear mudflaps mounted Porsche-style on cadmium plated metal tabs to the body. I imagine they have to be incredibly hard to find. A local dentist had a WC for sale last year, and it was discussed on Pelican. If you tracked that one down they might part with the mudflaps and rare pieces.

Supposely only 406 Weissach Edition were made to make up for discontinuing the Turbo after 1979. In Hemmings Sport&Exotic they stated only 400 were built for the U.S. market.
"Due to EPA regulations, the 930 Turbo was discontinued in the United States for the 1980 model year, leaving this as the top-performing 911 since the Carreras of 1975 and 1976."
The Weissach did not come with the turbo flares but special color and interior with a base price of $32,050. It was called 911SC Coupe, Weissach Edition.

I saw that article in Hemmings, and they also posted some inaccuracies, under the picture of the motor. It states, "Weissach Edition dropped the Turbo, added the 930's body." Its not a 930 body with flared fenders, its a standard SC body.
Also they stated the engine's torque as 244lb/ft @ 4,200 rpm. I knew that was wrong, since a 1986 911 3.2 Carrera produced 185 lb/ft and a 911 Turbo of the same year 278lb/ft. A 3.0 911 SC engine actually produced 175 lb/ft @ 4,200 rpm.
Nice article overall, but a few mistakes.
